Your Majesty
The enclosed petition is presented on behalf of the Larache
community in Great Britain for your much appreciated consideration.
We represent 80% percent of the Moroccan Community in the UK. On
our recent visit to parts of Morocco we found that there have been
huge efforts invested into improving living conditions. We are happy
to see this progress and for sure we will continue to see more.
There are however certain parts of the country which have been less
fortunate.
Development in Larache was interrupted a few years ago and has since
been deteriorating to serious levels. Such issues affecting the
town are:
Green spaces now littered with rubbish, forests unkempt and unsafe,
bad road conditions, beaches littered, increase in uncontrolled
rubbish tips, poor street lighting, lack of a safe transport system,
rise in delinquency, rise in crime, increase in mentally disabled
people, rise in prostitution, lack of preservation of historical
sites, growth of unemployment, lack of childcare provision or youth
recreational facilities, sport event disappearance due to lack of
facilities.
This list affects all aspects of life for a resident of Larache and
those visiting. Only a deadly disease can destroy such numerous
aspects of life. Your Majesty, this is a disease that can only
continue to spread, please help us overcome it. We too (the Moroccan
community) are ready to help with revitalising the health of our
town. The community is aware that it is not easy to stop the town's
fast-growing population which is hindering progression in Larache,
but they are sure that your policies will control urban migration to
Larache to reduce the rate of crime and allow it to prosper. This
will give us the incentive to invest and provide assurance to and
for our families and children.
In recent years, our children, parents and families have become
anxious that Larache might lose the potential to become a thriving
town once again. However despite these concerns, they continue to
have hope through their faith in Allah and the efforts of Your
Majesty. Our community is now urging Your Majesty to investigate
what was and is happening in Larache and intervene before the
disease consumes the town's energy. Our business people are
counting on Your Majesty to wipe the dust from the infrastructure
development wheel to set it in motion, to give them the motivation
to invest.
Your Majesty, you know we are people of culture and historical
background. Please help us preserve our identity, our memories and
our pride.
Our community is sure that Your Majesty will give this matter your
sincere attention and look into the issues raised here. We are also
sure that you will give important consideration to this petition.
"For a better future for our children.
May ALLAH preserve Your Majesty for your family and for your people
in the homeland and abroad".
Signed: The Moroccan community in Great Britain
