06-02-2006
His Majesty the King Mohammed VI inaugurated the planning work of Lixus tourist station in Larache, on February 6, 2006 .
The creation of this seaside resort is in line with the Azur Plan which deals with the planning of new seaside resorts / stations that Morocco plans to achieve with an amount of 40 billion DH.
The planning of this station required an investment in the order of 5,6 billion DH, including 1,4 billion DH in the form of in-site investment and 560 million DH in the form of direct investment intended for the creation of a new hotel unit, with a capacity of 330 beds, 245 villas of 1470 beds and two golf courses.
On that occasion, some explanatory remarks were directed at His Majesty the King; it's to do with the explanations on the importance of this tourist station, the “exploitation” of which is scheduled to start in 2007.
The off-site investment of this station, which stretches over an area of 462 ha with a welcome capacity of 12000 beds, is valued at about 270 million DH.
The “realization” of this project led by Salixus planning company, which groups together two world economic operators who are Thomas & Piron (T & P), the Belgian giant of property and planning and Colbert Orco, the Dutch operator, is likely to contribute to the socio-economic development of Larache as well as the neighbouring regions. This seaside resort is expected to have a turn-over of 2 billion DH a year, along with the creation of 3800 direct jobs and 19000 indirect employments.
